Programming a new fob is brand-specific. Some cars allow on-board programming with a sequence of brake and ignition presses; others require a diagnostic-port tool. Fob shell replacement keeps the original electronics and just swaps the worn-out case — much cheaper than a full fob replacement. Key fobs are essentially small radios — they transmit an encrypted code to your car or building that proves authorization. We test the new battery's voltage under load before reinstalling it — a fresh battery that reads twelve percent low gets pulled and replaced. Ninety percent of fob failures are dead batteries. CR2032 or CR2025 coin cells are the standard, and we carry both.
